I have been selected as a finalist by The CRY HAVOC Company in New York City for its PlayList new play development program.

My play Closet Space has been named as a finalist in the Henley Rose Playwright Competition for Women, which recognizes “new, unproduced work by outstanding female-identifying playwrights”

The Naples Players of Naples, Florida, will once again be presenting my short play Just Another Day at the Airport in its Readers Theatre Road Show. The Naples Players previously performed the same play in its Readers Theatre show on March 22. Two performances:

  • Wednesday, September 23

Kumu Kahua Theatre of Honolulu, Hawaii, has named my short play Midnight at the Pancake Shack as the winner of its monthly Go Try PlayWrite playwriting contest.

My play Closet Space has advanced to the Second Round of the Austin Film Festival in the Stage Play category.

Jane M. Lee is a New York City-based playwright whose work has been performed across the United States as well as internationally.  Her short play Trite and True was produced Off-Broadway in the Downtown Urban Arts Festival at Theatre Row.  Her short play Family Emergency was praised for “fus[ing] the hostility of a Jerry Springer program with the warmth and irony of an O. Henry story.” She was a semifinalist for Chisa Hutchinson’s Signpost Fellowship for writers of color.  Her play Closet Space won the College of Charleston’s Todd McNerney National Playwriting Award and was developed at the Music Theatre of Connecticut and the Green Mountain Playwright Retreat. Her play At the Door received a developmental workshop at The Workshop Theater in New York City.
