Tickets are now on sale for my short play Trite and True as part of Pan Theater’s CATastrophe Play Festival in Oakland, California. Two performances:

  • Friday, April 4, at 8:00 p.m.

  • Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m.

My short play Trite and True has been selected as a winner of the CATastrophe Play Festival and will be produced by Pan Theater of Oakland, California, in early April. The festival celebrates plays featuring cats in some form.

My short play Trite and True has received an Honourable Mention from Theatre In the Raw of Vancouver in its 13th Biennial One-Act Play Writing Contest. My play Open House was previously a winner in the Social Issues category in the 11th Biennial contest in 2020.

Asian Story Theater of San Diego has selected my short play The Immaculate Contraception as a semifinalist for its The Last Census project.

Jane M. Lee is a New York City-based playwright whose work has been performed across the United States as well as in Canada, Hong Kong, and London.  Her short play Trite and True was produced Off-Broadway in the Downtown Urban Arts Festival at Theatre Row.  Her short play Family Emergency was praised for “fus[ing] the hostility of a Jerry Springer program with the warmth and irony of an O. Henry story.”  She was a semifinalist for Chisa Hutchinson’s Signpost Fellowship for writers of color.  Her play Closet Space won the College of Charleston’s Todd McNerney National Playwriting Award.
